The Good Dog 102

Course Summary:

6 Week course, Dogs Do Not Attend Week 1. This class is an introduction to some basic concepts of dog learning theory and basic cues to reinforce good behaviors and foster a baseline skill set for dogs above 6 months with no prior professional training. Implementation of concepts will help you and your dogs understanding the principles of training to teach and reinforce desired behaviors.

  • Loose Leash Walking
  • Recall
  • Generalizing

Equipment to bring for weeks 2-6:

  • 6-8ft leash (No retractable leashes)
  • Buckle collar or harness (Martingale collars are okay)
  • No aversive devices such as choke chains, prong collars, shock collars, or verbal reprimand etc.
  • Enrichment devices (Will be covered in week 1)
  • Treats (You may use your dogs kibble, but it is also recommended to bring at least a quart’s bag worth of yummy treats)

Rules and expectations:

  • There will be no dog-to-dog interactions unless cleared by trainer, when in the facility ensuring to maintain a secure grasp on your leash and keep dogs close by as to not run up to other students or dogs. This may mean taking up a little bit of a shorter leash at times.
